WINGS Tour: Mindo and Northwest Ecuador
Friday, February 8, 2019
I just finished leading another tour to the Mindo area of northwest Ecuador. It worked out nicely. There was rain everyday, but Mindo’s birding infrastructure is such that one is never too far from a roofed shelter with bird feeders. We totaled nearly 300 species for the tour including goodies like Indigo Flowerpiercer, Orange-breasted Fruiteater, Yellow-breasted Antpitta, Crested Guan, and Toucan Barbet.
HERE is a photo-enhanced narrative of the tour.

Want to see some of the non-bird things we saw? Go HERE.
An Andean Cock-of-the-rock sits in the dark greenery of the cloud forest at Reserva Paz de las Aves. For a big spectacular bird, they are not easy to find away from their display leks. This was one of about 5-6 screeching males at dawn.
