WINGS Tour: East Slope of the Andes
Saturday, February 16, 2019
My second consecutive tour in Ecuador has just finished and I’m on my way home. This was a pretty short one, only six days of birding, but it covers a lot of ground with nights in high and medium cloud forest, as well as in the Amazon foothills. Consequently, there were lots of birds. I had 300 on my list including some heard-only stuff, and the group total was close. Highlights were Andean Potoo, Swallow-tailed Nightjar, White-chested Puffbird, both Crested and Golden-headed Quetzal, and a variety of antbirds, tanagers, hummingbirds, and other whatnots.
HERE is a photo-enhanced narrative of the tour.

Want to see some of the non-bird things we saw? Go HERE.
There aren’t too many days when Volcan Antisana is this clear. It certainly wasn’t this clear on our first trip over the pass! The way back was much nicer, though, and the scenery and birds were very nice.
